The Cleaner Production Unit of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UN Environment) are implementing Lead in Paint project, which is part of global best practices on emerging chemical policy issues of concerns under the strategic approach to international chemical management (SAICM), a project supported by the Global Environment Facility.
The Main objective of Lead in Paint Project is to provide technical support for paint producing companies to produce paint within the allowable limits of lead compounds in paint, at an acceptable financial cost, that enhances companies’ competitiveness, additionally the project aims to create a market for lead-free paint products through awareness raising and advocacy .
As part of the awareness raising activities, Royal Scientific Society have conduct a media campaign to raise awareness among Jordanian community about the adverse health impacts of lead compounds and how they can be exposed to the hazard in addition to identify selection option to choose safe paint products.
