Cleaner Production Assessment (CP)
Cleaner Production (CP) is “the continuous application of an integrated, preventive environmental strategy towards processes, products and services in order to increase overall efficiency and reduce damage and risks
for humans and the environment.”as defined by United Nations Environment Programme (earlier UNEP and now UN Environment). Cleaner Production can be applied to the processes used in any industry, to products themselves and to various services provided in society.
CP is a method and tool to identify where and why a company islosing resources in the form of waste and pollution, and how these losses can be minimized.
Royal Scientific Society (RSS) / Cleaner Production Unit (CPU) is a regular member of the Global Network for Resources Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECPnet).
RECPnet operates with the support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment).
Cleaner Production Unit (CPU) in Water and Environment Centre (WEC) at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) has 14 years of experience in Cleaner Production Assessment. CPU has conducted CP assessment studies in different sectors, such as: Food Industries, Metal Industries (Steel and Aluminum), Paints Industries, Cement Industries, Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries, and Hospitals.
Best Environmental Practices Guideline in the Healthcare Sector was issued by the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) / Cleaner Production Unit (CPU) in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and Sustainable Business Associate (SBA) in Switzerland to be a tool in order to implement the best environmental practices in the healthcare sector.
